From 2014 to 2015, while in New York caring for my mother, I walked daily from East 90th Street to Mount Sinai Hospital. These photographs were taken along the way, capturing the textures and details of the pavement—cracks, reflective mica, weathered surfaces—small elements that had been part of my surroundings since childhood.
I layered these images with older photographs I had taken while living in the city. The result is a study in color, texture, and the changing urban landscape, where past and present intersect in unexpected ways.
